Construction Knitting

If you're wondering why this blog has been so quiet, it's because most of my year has been spent working on a Master's of Design Research project; amalgamating the Construction Knitting method into a theory bound concept....... this is what my Construction Knitting package looks like now.

So, this neat little academic package is also now off to Finland to the Kuopio Academy of Design, as I've been invited to conduct workshops and lectures to the school!  This condensed box of essentially years worth of practice led research is traveling accompanied by wooli kits, patterns and needles for making exercises with the Finnish students.

Organic Home Knits

The Gather shop has some beautiful new cushions in store; organic cotton, natural botanical dyes,  duck feather inserts.  Handknitted, hand-dyed, this cotton makes a soft, matte surface (almost like suede); Oh My! one can sink all their daydreams into these......

Bangarra Costume Images

Bangarra Dance is now in full tour in Australia and they've posted an album of production images on their facebook page.  There are some amazing images there of the costume segment I created.

A review in Sydney Morning Herald of Bangarra Dance's Patyegarang performance, where the costume is mentioned as a "....delight, especially the ones with lattice backs and elegant drapery".

Bangarra Dance Costume

Bangarra Dance Company's performance Patyegarang has kicked off this week at the Sydney Opera House.  This is another wonderful commission from Jennifer Irwin, Costume Designer for Bangarra; who is great to work with as she gives me free reign with the design of the pieces.  I can't wait to see this beautiful performance when I'm in Sydney next week.

KNITWEAR DESIGN Book

A new book by Carol Brown, Knitwear Design, published by Laurence King (UK). I am featured in there albeit small; on page 79 in the UNDERSTANDING YARNS chapter with the images of cascading wool on my studio shelves, and sample sheets of yarn; also on page 98 with an image of Wool Collar from a previous collection in the chapter on TEXTURE.

Just completed a costume commission for The Bangarra Dance Theatre's next performance 'Patyagarang', opening at Sydney Opera House 13 June, followed by a countrywide tour.
